Norway wants thousands more angel investors

This article was first published in Norwegian by Folk og Fag (Finansforbundet) in 2019. What follows is a short English summary; the full article is available in Norwegian at the source.

Jørn Lein-Mathisen, then managing director of Business Angels Norway (BAN), and BAN’s chair Åsmund Johan Mandal explain what an angel investor does: a private individual who invests their own money in a company at an early stage, takes a small ownership share and contributes advice, support and a network. Lein-Mathisen argues that an angel should not seek control of a company.

The article also describes BAN’s EU-funded Nordic Angel Program, which trained new angels from a wide range of backgrounds, and talks to Neil Murray of Nordic Web Angel Fund about the difference between angels and angel funds, and about the responsibility angels take on when they advise the companies they invest in.
